No doubt, building a Lancair kit is an exciting adventure, but as graduates of Lancair’s Builder’s Assist Program are discovering, it’s even more exciting when you have qualified Lancair staff doubling your productivity!

Not only do the participants in the Lancair Builder’s Assist Program walk away from the experience feeling more comfortable and confident with their own skills for the remainder of the project, they begin seeing the end results at a much faster rate, igniting their determination to finish the project.  Along with that they have made new friends and can put a “name to a face” when calling Lancair for continued customer support.

Originally designed for the Lancair IV model, the Builder’s Assist Program has now expanded to include all makes and models of the Lancair family.  Under the watchful eye and helpful hands of trained Lancair employees, a builder can accomplish the task of closing out the wings and tail section of any Lancair aircraft quickly, in a matter of five days.

Tommy Bloodworth, partner in “Air Fours” (an independent, Texas based builder’s assist company) has experienced the Lancair Builder’s Assist program first hand; “I personally send each Lancair that I assist with through the first two to four weeks in the Builder’s Assist Program.  The Lancair staff is professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and eager to assist in furthering your knowledge and education to build your airplane.  The people who work in the builder assist shop are true craftsmen!  They will exceed your expectations and you’ll take your kit home with greater confidence.  Furthermore, the relationships that you make while you’re there will carry you through your build project.”

“Lancair has been a leader in the kit aircraft industry in developing ways for builders to get their projects out of the garage and into the air quickly,” offers Tim Ong, Lancair General Manager. “This program, combined with our other fast build advancements, is enabling our customers to complete aircraft like the IV-P in as little as 12 months.”

“The time saving this program offers is incredible.  Builders accomplish in about five days what otherwise would likely have taken them 700 to 1000 hours,” explains Ong.  “This program shaves nearly a year off the project.”

Living up to their reputation of high quality and excellent customer service, Lancair offers sister programs, including the Firewall Fastbuild and Engine Fastbuild programs.  These programs reduce the engine installation time to approximately eight hours, a sizeable 92 hour difference from the previous 100 hour average.  With these kits, the builder literally needs only to bolt on the engine, hook up fuel lines, connect the wiring and install the propeller.

With the need for experimental aircraft kits to be built quickly, safely and efficiently, the Lancair Builder’s Assist Program is certainly a positive step in the right direction, and one we encourage every Lancair builder to take advantage of.
